Who cares when I hurt, help from the bible; Bible League

Friday, April 17th, 2009

This little 48 page book is a classic. On one page it will have a few words about a subject of distress such as lonliness, hopelessness, temptation, weariness, discouragement or guilt and on the opposite page is something showing hope from the bible. It’s cheap enough to almost give away and can be picked up and read spasmodically, as a devotional guide and can be good when left wisely and appropriately in hospital visits. Not much to say about a short book but GET ONE or two or three to give away wisely. It has a lovely colour cover and black and white photos inside. Book Review: After suicide; Help for the bereveaved Dr Sheila Clark

Friday, April 17th, 2009

This may seem a sad book to start with but it is a subject that is very important. Sheila has worked extensively as a counsellor, as a G.P, and advised people extensively through this most difficult type of grief. She is well trained and well experienced. There are all sorts of people recomending her book from Anne Deveson AO, Writer and film maker who son died after a long battle with schizophrenia and Dr Col Owen, the president of The Royal Australian College of General Praticioners and a proffessor who is the head of the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Queensland right through to struggling family and friends, doctors and ministers.

It is a very practical book showing various stages that families and loved ones go through as well as explaing the roles of the various medical and police departments etc.

It’s not something I would want anyone to need, but certainly a book offering hope and healing in a grim, dark time.   Published in Australia by Michelle Anderson Publishing  P/L www.michelleandersonpublishing.com
